My On the Fly greatest movies of all time personal challenge.
How it works: Think about your favorite movies of all time for 30 seconds or so then name the first 7 movies that come into your mind in 7 seconds.
You know those movies you watch sometimes that you just feel something during and after you watch it. The type of film that makes you think about life, laugh, or feel empathy and dial into your own emotions. Good movies, I mean really good movies, are the reason why I love story telling, writing of all kinds, and cinema.
And, the best part is its all perception and opinion. Sure, sure, ratings and reviews generally play a factor in choosing movies and so on. However, sometimes a film, even a low rated or unpopular film, could move you.
Some days, I can sit down and find a serious of good movies, documentaries, or shows back to back and the majority of the time I feel like I’m just turning myself into a zombie, just finding a way to waste time and temporarily entertain myself.
Anyways, I have thought about doing this for a while but it is last minute so this list is like a Wikipedia page and I would love help editing it.
Now on to the list.. By the way, there is no hierarchy here… Just, the first seven that popped into my mind.
What do you think? I would love some feedback!
1. Django Unchained
Just pure entertaining, great story telling, explosions! In the words of one of my friends, “It’s historical and entertaining.” Probably the second best film by Quentin Tarantino or a close tie with Inglorious Bastards. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, and Samuel L. Jackson.
For some reason I assumed that Tarantino’s new film Once Upon A Time in Hollywood was going to be similar to this. I think i Just assumed this because I started glorifying this director after this watching this film and made it a priority to watch all of his 7 or 8 films after.
2. Seven Psychopaths
Just great writing! Something you don’t see every day and my type of dark humor. Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, and Colin Farrell play the parts well.
3. 28 days later, the movie starring Sandra Bullock not the flesh eating zombie movie!
Just watched this and I really liked it, so I added it. I recently bought a plant and when I told my mother and father about my new purchase, both referenced this movie and laughed, they’ve been separated almost 15 years.
Another thing I liked most about this movie, Is the fact that she ends up just running into a friend. A completely different ending that all the clique endings or falling in love and ending up with the right guy.
4.Silver Linings Playbook
I believe this is the best love story of all time. This is my top romantic movie. So, if you are from my generation and still on that The Notebook crap, get outta here. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are great and Robert De Niro always makes a movie memorable.
This movie made my list due to the father and son aspect. I can never forget how heart gripping and meaningful the last scene Is.
You know when he says, “George : So in the end, was it worth it? Jesus Christ. How irreparably changed my life has become. It’s always the last day of summer and I’ve been left out in the cold with no door to get back in. I’ll grant you I’ve had more than my share of poignant moments. Life passes most people by while they’re making grand plans for it. Throughout my lifetime, I’ve left pieces of my heart here and there. And now, there’s almost not enough to stay alive. But I force a smile, knowing that my ambition far exceeded my talent. There are no more white horses or pretty ladies at my door. ” May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face.” Fred Jung : And may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars. Fred Jung : Cheers, Georgie. George : Cheers, pop.
6.Walk The Line
It’s Johnny cash. Enough said!
7.Good Will Hunting
I watched this movie for the first time in 2018! Truly moved. Reminds me of my best friend. Also, my favorite TV Show of ALL TIME, Its always sunny in Philadelphia ‘s Charlie Day has referenced Good Will Hunting a few times and it just all clicked when I finally watched the movie and fully knew what they were talking about LOL..
And Step Brothers has a funny scene about the movie too..
I would like to note that I left out Rocky and Scarface, also two really good films. And as I list those, I think of Wall E, Finding Nemo, and Inglorious Bastards. I may add to a larger list one day. A list with documentaries and tv shows, etc..
Let me know why these movies are awesome or not awesome. And feel free to share your on the fly top movies!
